The AGM was held on 16th April. The Chairman's report is shown below for information. For further information contact Dennis Lawrence on 07771 691588.

Chairmans Report on 2025 activities:

As always, I would like to convey my thanks to all the members of the committee for their continued support in helping to keep our Association in its current healthy state. Whilst I am extremely saddened to be losing Steve Randall from the role as Secretary, I would like to convey my thanks to him for filling the role of Secretary for the last two years and providing some very good speakers. Steve travels a long distance to get to the meetings and he has other commitments, so I fully appreciate his reasons for leaving. We need to try and fill the position so if anybody would like to have a go at filling the role, please come forward and let me know.

January: Claire Stinton - Utility/Energy Savings

February:  Richard Brewster - Goodwill & Estate Planning (Wills & Powers of Attorney)

April: Alison Cross - Bellringing

May: Alan Godfrey - Postman's Knock (Evolution of postal services in Warwickshire)

September: David Johnston - Commonwealth War Graves Commission

Our other meetings were:

March: AGM & Quiz

June: Cancelled (Trip to Shrewsbury the day before)

July: Afternoon Tea

October: Cancelled due to Great Yarmouth holiday

November: Pre Christmas Buffet

As well as thanking the committee, I would like to thank all of our regular attendees at these monthly meetings, as well as the members who support our trips and holidays. It’s  getting more difficult to find speakers or arrange new things to cover at the monthly meetings, but I am determined not to carry on with them, despite our falling numbers.

Our Social Secretary, Margaret Fleming, arranged 2 holidays and 2 day trips during 2025. Members enjoyed a four-night holiday from 14th to 18th April at The Cavendish Hotel, Exmouth and a further 4 night break from 13th October to 17th October at Great Yarmouth. A day trip to Shrewsbury took place on 18th June and a further day trip to Evesham Country Park, with a carvery lunch at The March Hare, included took place on 9th December.

35 members attended our Traditional Afternoon Tea at the British Legion on 24th July, and 31 members attended a Pre-Christmas buffet lunch, also at the British Legion, on 20th November. A further afternoon tea is being held later this year on 18th June.

Our Treasurer, Rob Brennan continues to look after the Association’s funds and maintain the books of account. Copies of his report to the AGM will be available to you at the meeting and the accounts will be presented to you by Rob later in the agenda.

And finally, just a reminder that the committee are always open to any suggestions you wish to make to us, so please let us know, and a big thank you for your continued support.
